QA Level 2 Award in Community First Responders (RQF)

The QA Level 2 Award for Community First Responders (RQF) is ideal for those who are currently performing as, or aspiring to perform as, a community first responder. Regulated and nationally recognised, this qualification has been specifically designed to provide Learners with the knowledge and skills needed to administer initial emergency care at life-threatening incidents prior to the arrival of further medical assistance.

 

 

Intended Audience

This qualification is for people who are performing or aspiring to perform as a community first responder.

 

Community First Responders Certificate

Upon successful completion of this course the delegate is awarded a Certificate in Community First Responders which is valid for three years.

 

 

Community First Responders Syllabus

  • The role and responsibilities of a community first responder

  • Assessing a scene at an emergency incident

  • Assessing a patient, including:

  • o  Primary survey

  • o  Secondary survey

  • o  Patient handover

  • Assessing and managing a patient’s airway

  • Managing an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally

  • How to use an Automated External Defibrilliator during a cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempt

  • Administration of emergency oxygen

  • Community first response equipment

  • Managing patients:

  • o  in shock

  • o  with breathing difficulties

  • o  with anaphylaxis

  • o  with a suspected major illness

  • Conducting and recording base line observations

Our courses can be delivered at your business premises, home, 

any suitable client hired venue or our venues in North London.

Course Duration

2 Days, please allow 9.5 hours per day (including breaks)

 

Course Pre-Requisites

Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of the training.
There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a
minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent, and a First Aid at Work certificate.
Other course requirements
Due to the practical nature of this course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g.
trousers and flat footwear.

Progression

The QA Level 2 Award for Community First Responders (RQF) qualification can be used as a stepping-stone to progress onto higher levels of prehospital care qualifications, such as the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), which will provide Learner’s with further knowledge and skills to deal with a broader range of emergency incidents.

This qualification also offers those achieving it greater opportunities to progress their career into other areas of prehospital emergency care, such as the ambulance service. Furthermore the qualification can be used a stepping-stone in an individual’s career and may lead to various employment opportunities in a range of different healthcare settings.

Requalification requirements

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
