Service Description
Qualification overview This qualification forms part of the QA Food Safety suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on: • National Occupational Standards (NOS) for food safety in a catering environment developed by People 1st • Recommendations of good practice outlined by the Food Standards Agency This qualification should enable Learners to attain the knowledge of the importance of food safety and maintaining good practice so that they are able to produce safe food. Objective The objective of the qualification is to introduce Learners to the principles and fundamentals of food safety in catering. It includes information about how individuals have a personal responsibility for food safety, the importance of personal hygiene, keeping work areas clean and tidy, safe food handling practices and keeping food safe. Intended audience This qualification is for anyone who handles food, or plans to handle food, in the catering industry. It would also be beneficial for people who come into contact with food handling areas, e.g. pest control and delivery personnel. Entry requirements Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy. Progression Some possible routes of progression are: • Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering (RQF) • Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering (RQF) Requalification requirements We recommend you refresh your training every 3 years. Assessment Methods 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper). Certification Successful learners will receive a personalised Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) e-Certificate immediately after their results have been submitted to Qualsafe.
Cancellation Policy
It is the duty of the employer to ensure that all students meet the course pre-requisites. General Course Pre-Requisites: Students must have the ability to cope with the course theory and practical activities and possess a basic level of literacy in the English language. Specific course pre-requisites are included with each course overview. If the Customer notifies PFS in writing of an intention to cancel any course booking more than 2 weeks prior to the commencement date a full refund of any course fees paid shall be given (with no cancellation penalty due), within 1-2 weeks of the commencement date 55% of the course fees shall remain payable and less than 1 week prior to the commencement date no refund shall be given. PFS will issue a cancellation number upon notice of cancellation. This number should be quoted on all further correspondence. (No Credits will be raised without a cancellation number). No refund shall be given and the full course fee shall remain payable should a student fail any course provided by PFS and PFS make no guarantee as to a student successfully passing any course. No refund shall be given if a student does not attend and the full course fee shall remain payable. PFS reserves the right to refuse entry to any learner failing to produce photo i.d. or failing to complete pre course activities. Requests for copies of certificates must be made in writing and are subject to an administration charge of £10.00 each. Students attending a two-day FAW requalify course must hold a current First Aid at Work Certificate and be able to produce this on request, or produce at course commencement. PFS shall not be liable for mistreatment of any person or property arising out of the Customer's failure to follow the guidelines set out by PFS in its courses. PFS reserves the right to cancel and/or amend course dates, times, contents and venues. Every effort will be made to give the Customer as much notice as possible and offer a reasonable alternative. If these are not satisfactory, PFS shall refund in full the price of the course. No further compensation will be given. Any written notice given under these terms and conditions shall be served either by registered post or by Email/facsimile to the relevant party's registered/principal office or last known address. By completing the booking process you are agreeing to these T&Cs No other person or body who is not a party to the Contract has any rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any terms of the Contract. These terms and conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with English law and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
