Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)

Did you know that in 2014, there were over 4,000 hospital admissions for anaphylaxis in England?
Anaphylaxis is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction, which requires immediate medical attention.
With the number of sufferers increasing each year, it is extremely important to know what to do when faced
with this acute emergency condition.

 

Intended audience

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency. Successful candidates will be able to
recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, and will be equipped with the vital skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective treatment.

 

 

Certification

This qualification is valid for a period of 1 year. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.

 

 

Syllabus

On completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge needed to provide BLS and manage anaphylaxis including:


Chain of survival


Incident and casualty assessment


Managing an unresponsive casualty


CPR


Recovery Position


Common anaphylaxis triggers


Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis


Treatment


Medication

Adrenaline auto-injectors

Course Pre-Requisites

Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
