Service Description

Qualification overview This Qualsafe Awards (QA) qualification educates Learners in basic fire safety awareness. It includes what to do in the event of an emergency, the principles of fire risk control and the basics of practical fire safety. Aim The aim of the qualification is to enable Learners to develop their awareness of fire safety in the workplace to make sure they are keeping themselves and others they work with safe at all times. It instructs people what to do in the event of an emergency and outlines simple measures you can take to control the risk of fires in the workplace. Structure This qualification comprises 1 mandatory unit with a total value of 1 credit and has 4 guided learning hours (GLH)*. *GLH are a guide to the estimated hours an average Learner would study to gain the unit. This does not have to be face-to-face instructional time and can include self-directed study at home, such as reading course hand outs and further self study. The minimum contact learning hours for this qualification is 3 hours (½ day) excluding breaks. Intended audience The qualification is for all employees to increase their basic fire safety awareness. This training helps to fulfil an employer’s legal duty to train all their staff in fire safety. Course Duration 3.5 Hours Requalification requirements It is recommended that training is refreshed every 3 years. Relationship with other related qualifications This unit may appear in health and safety qualifications that contain multiple units. Progression Some possible routes of progression are: • Level 2 Award in Fire Safety • Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment and Control • Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment • Level 2 Award in Health and Safety • Level 3 Award in Heal Maximum 16 learners per course dependent on room size. Entry requirements There are no formal entry requirements but to benefit from learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training. It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 1 literacy and numeracy or equivalent. Learners must complete an on line registration form at least 3 days prior to training. A quote will be Emailed to you in response to your completed form. This course is also available as e-Learning.


Cancellation Policy

It is the duty of the employer to ensure that all students meet the course pre-requisites. General Course Pre-Requisites: Students must have the ability to cope with the course theory and practical activities and possess a basic level of literacy in the English language. Specific course pre-requisites are included with each course overview. If the Customer notifies PFS in writing of an intention to cancel any course booking more than 2 weeks prior to the commencement date a full refund of any course fees paid shall be given (with no cancellation penalty due), within 1-2 weeks of the commencement date 55% of the course fees shall remain payable and less than 1 week prior to the commencement date no refund shall be given. PFS will issue a cancellation number upon notice of cancellation. This number should be quoted on all further correspondence. (No Credits will be raised without a cancellation number). No refund shall be given and the full course fee shall remain payable should a student fail any course provided by PFS and PFS make no guarantee as to a student successfully passing any course. No refund shall be given if a student does not attend and the full course fee shall remain payable. PFS reserves the right to refuse entry to any learner failing to produce photo i.d. or failing to complete pre course activities. Requests for copies of certificates must be made in writing and are subject to an administration charge of £10.00 each. Students attending a two-day FAW requalify course must hold a current First Aid at Work Certificate and be able to produce this on request, or produce at course commencement. PFS shall not be liable for mistreatment of any person or property arising out of the Customer's failure to follow the guidelines set out by PFS in its courses. PFS reserves the right to cancel and/or amend course dates, times, contents and venues. Every effort will be made to give the Customer as much notice as possible and offer a reasonable alternative. If these are not satisfactory, PFS shall refund in full the price of the course. No further compensation will be given. Any written notice given under these terms and conditions shall be served either by registered post or by Email/facsimile to the relevant party's registered/principal office or last known address. By completing the booking process you are agreeing to these T&Cs No other person or body who is not a party to the Contract has any rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any terms of the Contract. These terms and conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with English law and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
